In this web design example for British visual artist Oliver Griffin, art direction and styling achieved an austere and pared-down scholarly look that perfectly befits the artist’s visual practice and personality.
Typography was chosen to be both serious as well as non-conformist, and there is an emphasis on empty white space and reduced elements to really bring out the unique way the artist works and thinks. Overall, the design impression is open and sparse, working well on different mobile devices with a sense of intelligent, hands-on style rather than just fashion gimmick. It is executed slickly yet simply, with a fold-out biography page and a nice black-and-white portrait of the artist, with only as much information as is necessary.
